How to Hit a Beginner Tennis Forehand?

What is a forehand shot?
The forehand shot is one of the most fundamental and widely-used strokes in tennis, and understanding its introduction is crucial for both beginners and advanced players. It is a shot that is executed using one’s dominant hand, or otherwise known as the hitting hand. Mastering the forehand shots can be a powerful asset as it is often the best way a tennis player can use to swing the tennis ball across the court.

While there are 3 commonly-known forehand shots, Eastern Grip, Semi-Western Grip  and Western Grip, today’s page will focus on the technique for the Semi-Western Grip.

See how Coach Christian does it with full power and confidence below!

Step 1: Start with a split step.

Step 2: Perform a unit-turn with the racket pointing towards the fence.

Step 3: Let the racket fall naturally, with its strings pointing down towards the floor.

Step 4: Step in, and extend your racket arm. Make sure your racket face is flat against the net.

Step 5: Complete the upward swinging motion. You are done!
